Special Educator
As a special educator, I spent 20 years teaching students in grades K–8 in all content areas. For several of those years, I specialized in reading instruction as a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner. In this capacity, I worked with struggling readers to improve their skills. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in special education with an emphasis on reading difficulties, and working as a field supervisor with preservice special education teachers at the University of Texas in Austin.
