Elana Gordon

K-6 Reading Interventionist, K-6 Literacy Coach, 5th Grade & 6th Grade Teacher

Elana Gordon is a K–6 reading interventionist at Warren Park Elementary School in Cicero, Illinois. As a 2023–24 Goyen Foundation fellow, Elana advocates and shares instructional strategies that promote structured literacy practices. She has been in education for 24 years and is certified in LETRS (Language Essentials for the Teachers of Reading and Spelling), which is endorsed by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). She is an ambassador for the Illinois Chapter of The Reading League and a member of the Illinois Early Literacy Coalition, a group that advocates for every child learning to read through evidence-based instruction. Elana is the creator of an in-house podcast in her school district called The Road to Reading, which focuses on how teachers are aligning instruction to science of reading practices and sharing teacher shifts in instructional practice.
