James Steyer is founder and CEO of Common Sense Media, the leading national non-profit dedicated to helping kids, parents, and teachers thrive with media and technology. Since 2009, Common Sense Media has provided free educator resources to a growing network of K-12 schools nationwide including a comprehensive Digital Literacy and Citizenship curriculum, a 1-to-1 essentials program, and Graphite.org, a free online resource to help educators find the highest quality digital learning media.
Jim is a former elementary classroom teacher who currently teaches courses on civil rights, civil liberties, and children’s issues at Stanford University. He’s also co-chair of the Leading Education by Advancing Digital (LEAD) commission tasked with developing a blueprint detailing the opportunity for using technology as a catalyst to transform American education.
