Jim Kisiel
former teacher, museum educator; currently teacher educator and researcher
I've been fortunate to have been able to participate in science education through different roles: high school science teacher, informal educator and program coordinator at a natural history museum, program evaluator, science teacher educator, and science learning researcher. I recognize the importance of having research inform practice, but also recognize the challenges in making that happen. Much of my research has centered on understanding how best to support educational efforts between both formal (schools) and informal (museums, aquariums, etc.) learning institutions.
I also consider myself a lifelong learner. My interest in photography has led me to many amazing places, including many of the National Parks and Monuments. Such activities only strengthen my understanding of the natural world, but also my understanding of how learning happens across different settings.
