I'm a former music teacher from the Midwest. If you're a music nerd like me, perhaps you've seen my work at the Co-Founder and Co-Editor of Leading Notes Magazine (www.leadingnotes.org). I've also been writing on-and-off for my blog, Moving Forward with Music (http://teachingmusic.tumblr.com).

In general, I am in support of educational philosophies that support that creation of the whole child - curious, sensitive, industrious, and experienced. Currently, we find ourselves focusing on the math and language scores in isolation and, as all teachers know, that's simply not the way to prepare our children for the careers they'll need to have and the lives they'll want to live. That's why I'm glad Edutopia exists! It's an organization committed to studying and then sharing the techniques that teachers can use to educate and inspire their students.
